LUCKNOW: The district administration on Friday issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Nirmal Khatri for bursting fire crackers at the party’s office in Mall Avenue on Thursday without taking approval of the district administration.
The crackers were burst by Congress workers after the Nainital high court quashed the imposition of the President’s rule in Uttarakhand by the Centre on Thursday.
On Friday, additional city magistrate ( f i rst) Santosh Kumar Singh issued the notice to UPCC president Nirmal Khatri, seeking reply within two days.
A large number of Congress workers had assembled at the party’s office in Mall Avenue on Thursday evening. After distribution of sweets, the party workers burst fire crackers to hail the Nanital HC verdict.
Reacting on the notice, Khatri said: “Some enthusiastic party workers went into celebration mode and burst fire crackers, hailing the Nanital high court verdict.”
However, it seems the Samajwadi Party government did not like the high court’s decision and therefore served the notice, he added.
