EUROPEAN STYLE STRUCTURE

The Clock Tower is a 67-ft-tall structure built in European style. The contract for its construction was given to James William Benson, the royal clockmaker in England, who made clocks for the Queen of England. Benson deputed Roskell Payne, who designed the lofty structure. The worth of the contract in those days was Rs 1.75 lakh.
