LUCKNOW: National PG College has been granted the status of ‘college with potential for excellence’ (CPE) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is the only autonomous college of Lucknow University, which has more than 150 degree colleges in the state capital.

Speaking on the achievement, principal, SP Singh said that no other college in Lucknow had ever been granted CPE status by the UGC. “Our college will now be in a position to provide better facilities in education and learning for students. Advanced laboratories will be set up,” he said.

National PG College enjoys grade ‘A’ with 3.2 CGPA 9 (cumulative grade point average) from the national assessment and accredi- tation council (NAAC). It is also the only college of UP, which is running all the schemes of UGC and the ministry of human resource development (MHRD).

The college introduced semester system in all its undergraduate and postgraduate courses seven years ago. It also offers career oriented and innovative programmes to its students, under the auspices of UGC.

The B Voc and M Voc programmes along with two diploma courses in community college are being offered in association with the skilled development programme of the MHRD and under the auspices of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra.

National PG College is also the only college in the state that has introduced choice based credit system and CGPA in accordance with UGC guidelines.
