Post mishaps, LMRC holds safety training session for engineers

-

Jolted by two recent mishaps at its construction site, the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has now started imparting refresher training programme on ‘Safety and Quality’ to its junior engineers (JEs) and assistant engineers (AEs).

Almost 40 civil engineers were imparted at the refresher training session organised by LMRC at its administrative office building here in Gomti Nagar. The corporation’s safety experts held extensive sessions in which they highlighted and demonstrated a zero tolerance approach for safety and quality at the project site. The engineers were briefed on different modules on safety and quality along with the method statement and the risk assessment techniques for different procedures while doing work at project sites.

They (LMRC employees) were asked to first identify ‘potential hazard’ for each job and then go ahead to do it in the right manner to ensure safe working conditions. Stressing on the importance of Behaviour Based Safety (BBS), the young engineers were imparted training on inculcating a habit of safe behaviour. LMRC managing director Kumar Keshav presided over these sessions and gave valuable guidance to the participants. The JEs and the AEs were told to work according to the approved designs and the standard construction procedures without deviating from the safety guidelines.
