Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of making false promises during its Lok Sabha election campaign two years ago, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the people were still awaiting ‘achhe din’.
“BJP was voted to power with most of its MPs coming from UP but it did nothing for the people of the state. Where are ‘achche din’,” Yadav asked.
The chief minister was addressing a public meeting at Iradatganj in Dandupur on Saturday afternoon where he dedicated development projects worth Rs 350 crore to the people. He also inaugurated the district’s first Samajwadi Abhinav Vidyalaya and the first LED village, Dandupur, on this occasion.
Attacking the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Yadav said that its leaders were claiming that they would no longer build parks or install statues in the state. "Who would believe such people who wasted public money on elephant statues and parks. In a democratic set up, sale of election tickets is unacceptable but some parties are indulging in it," he said.
Highlighting the achievements of the Samajwadi Party government, Yadav said that farmers who suffered crop loss were provided compensation. Women’s helpline, 102 and 108 ambulance service and Yamuna Expressway also felicitated the people, he pointed out.
Yadav appealed to the people to remain cautious of false propaganda by the leaders of other political parties who would approach them for votes. He appealed to them not to fall in the trap of tall claims and promises and apprise other parties about the achievements of the Samajwadi Party government," he said. Yadav said that Allahabad had turned into a power generation hub with three thermal generation plants at Bara, Karchana and Meja. "The government has decided to provide drought relief package to four tehsils in trans-Yamuna area -- Karchana, Koraon, Bara and Meja. A fourlane Allahabad-Jaunpur highway will be constructed. Work on metro rail project is also on," he added.
