AIMIM chief focusing on Muslim pockets of east UP

The AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is focusing on the regions with a sizeable Muslim population in eastern Uttar Pradesh ahead of next year’s state assembly election.

In less than a month after addressing party cadres in the state capital on March 28 this year, the Hyderabad MP was back in Lucknow on Saturday on way to several eastern UP districts.

The three-time Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad made a stopover at several eastern UP regions having a sizable Muslim population.

“Asaduddin Owaisi is on a twoday tour to eastern UP. He will meet party cadres and will also visit party offices in the region,” said Tauheed Siddiqui, district president of AIMIM.

After reaching Lucknow on Saturday morning, Owaisi made the first stop at Utraula (Balrampur district). The AIMIM chief met party cadres in Utraula and also visited his party’s local office.

Dumariyaga­nj, Itwa and Shohratgar­h towns in Siddharthn­agar were next on his itinerary. At all these locations, Owaisi interacted with party cadres and took stock of the regional political scenario.

After leaving Shohratgar­h, the AIMIM chief ’s motorcade made a stopover at two towns in Sant Kabir Nagar district- Mehdawal and Khalilabad. The Hyderabad MP, known for his fiery speeches, has already made public his party’s intentions to contest assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
