Govt has improved facilities for judiciary, says Akhilesh
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that the judiciary can function well only if it has all the necessary facilities.
The Uttar Pradesh government was committed to safeguarding democratic values and providing justice to people, he said. His government had consistently bettered facilities and amenities for the judiciary, he added.
The chief minister made this point in the message he sent to the conference of chief ministers and chief justices in New Delhi on Sunday. Principal secretary (law) Abdul Shahid read out the CM’s message at the conference.
The chief minister conveyed that the UP government executed the construction and making of new building for the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on priority. He said that the building came up at a cost of Rs 1387 crore and was equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The chief justice of India inaugurated the building last month.
He also said his government had always showed full faith in judiciary and gave it all the respect due to it. The judiciary and the legislature were interdependent and thus they must strike a harmony and ensure coordination, he observed.
He said apart from a new building, his government also consolidated security around courts, worked towards digitisation of documents and built houses for judges.
