LUCKNOW: A dalit boy allegedly misbehaved with a dalit girl on Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University campus on Monday evening. Soon after the incident near gate number two, the girl raised alarm and the security staff rushed to the site and held the accused.

The boy was identified as Vineet, a B Tech second year student who was drunk . The victim girl alleged that he misbehaved with her when she and her friends were taking a stroll on the campus. As the area was deserted during evening hours, the boy misbehaved with her.

The victim girl with the help of her friends overpowered the drunken boy and raised an alarm after which security men at the gate rushed and held the boy.

The university has not yet reported the matter to the police.

On the complaint of the girl to warden Neetu Singh and dean student welfare Sudarshan Verma, proctor Victor Babu has asked the accused to appear in person before the proctorial board. However, the incident has exposed the law and order situation on the campus. A few months back, a labourer managed to enter the girls’ hostel around midnight.

Meanwhile, in yet another incident, dalit students of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University have alleged that a teacher passed casteist remark about a dalit student on July 23 . Angry students have given a written complaint to the police who are yet to register a case. According to the dalit student, assistant professor Pawan Kumar Chaurasiya used “objectionable words ” when he questioned the entry of a few RSS men inside a hostel. Police said that the boy had given a complaint but they would first cross check the facts before registering a case.
