Remain cool to reach your goal safe and fast

When you say ‘keep your cool’, its primary sense is that you should be clear and free of any negative thoughts that could save you from any hurtful situation. What is important in our behaviour is that we do not say or do anything that will not only hurt others but will also rebound on us sooner or later.

We must keep reminding ourselves of the wisdom in the adage that we are as good as we think and act. Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and other historical figures had amazingly cool heads and they made the best use of this quality to turn themselves into icons after their lifelong sacrifices in the service of mankind. They could not bear injustice, inequality and slavery in any form or involving anyone. They believed that we all deserved a good life and an environment that enables us to fulfil our mission in life.

That is why former US president Woodrow Wilson had this to say: “One cool judgment is worth a thousand hasty counsels. The thing to do is to supply light and not heat.” Only a person who remains cool and unshaken can hope to lead others in any battle of life, and in all circumstances. When you do not keep your cool, you are fighting with yourself, and hence you are on losing ground. Calmness gives a person the ability to think about what is right or wrong. It helps us build confidence and maturity to act sanely and reach our goal quickly.

British philosopher James Allen had these words for a person with a cool head: “Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.” Our journey of life will go quite smoothly if we ‘wear’ such jewels.
