Three seeds make first round exits
On a day when former Davis Cupper and top seed Vijay Kannan begun his quest in the AITA 50 K Tournament here on Monday with a convincing win, three seeded made first round exits, at the Vijayantkhand Stadium.
Kannan had 6-0, 6-1 win against Vishal Singh in his first round match. But fourth seed Arnav Alok Goel of Uttar Pradesh went down meekly to Haryana’s Anurag Nenwani 1-6, 3-6. This wasn’t all for the day as sixth seed Pradeep Deshwal of Haryana too lost in the straight sets 2-6, 3-6 to unseeded Ankit Rao. Fifth seed Shekhar Jaiswal of Maharashtra could win just one game before losing to Eklavya Singh 1-6, 0-6.
In the women’s section, top seed Neeru Rapria of Haryana had to struggle a bit before brushing aside Mohini Malik of West Bengal 6-3, 6-3 in a first round match, whereas Shankar Gayatri was stretched full by Koshambi Sinha before losing
