Priyanshu guides LDACC enter final of Raj cricket tourney

An all-round performanc­e by Priyanshu Anand (23 runs, 2 wkts) helped LDA Coaching Centre (LDACC) storm into the final of the 1st Raj Begum Memorial Cricket Tournament, defeating Unique Sporting by 30 runs, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Tuesday.

BOWLERS SHINE

Bowlers Virat Singh (3/19), Ankit Yadav (2/12) and Shivam Patel (2/15) bowled well as Young Challenger­s Club (YCC) scored a comprehens­ive six-wicket win against Forencis Cricket Club (FCC) in a league match of the PP Dua Memorial Under16 Cricket Tournament, at the Christian College here on Tuesday.

POINTS SPLIT

Army Medical Corps (AMC) scored a thrilling solitary goal win against Mens Union Club to log on full points in the District Football League-2016, at the Chowk Stadium here on Tuesday. Randhir Das scored on a penalty shoot in the second half of play. In other match of the day, New Boys beat LDA Aliganj by 4-0. Bhojay struck three goals, whereas Sumit netted one.

The District Basketball Associatio­n on Tuesday announced its teams for the 17th UP State Youth Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from July 28 at Meerut.

FINE SHOW

Fencers being trained at the Vinay Khand Stadium in Gomti Nagar staged a fine performanc­e at the State Fencing Championsh­ip at Mathura, winning a bronze medal. Kishan Singh won the bronze medal in epee event in juniors category. Divyansh Gupta, Harshit Singh, Anurag Verma, Prabal Pratap Singh, Ali and Ajeet Singh too did well at the meet.

WEEKLY BRIDGE

BN Rastogi and Amitabh Tayal managed 63.50% points to win the match points pairs event of the Weekly Bridge Tournament, at the Lucknow Club here on Tuesday. 13 pairs played 11 rounds of two boards each. Rastogi and Tayal had eight tops, four above average scores and no zeros in their score. They were followed by HK Singh-Manish Jaiswal (62.5%), and SK Garg-Pravin Agarwal (55.5%).
