LUCKNOW: Three sisters got injured after being hit by a school van in Jankipuram here on Wednesday morning. The van hit them while they were going to school on a bicycle.

The three sisters were identified as Maya Pal, 17, student of Class 12 from Government Inter College, Anshika Pal, 7, and Annu Pal, 5, both students of Class 2 and Class 1 respectively of a private school on ring road. Their father Rajesh Pal, driver of a school bus, stated the incident took place when Maya was going to drop her two sisters to their school near Chuiyanpurwa crossing at around 7.30am.

Eyewitnesses said the van driver was driving recklessly as he was apparently going to collect students, and hit the girls after he lost control at the crossing. In the incident, Maya and Annu suffered injuries on head while Anshika fractured her right leg. The van driver fled after the accident.

Police said the driver was tracked down but the girl’s father did not register any complaint as both work as drivers in separate branches of the same school. District police spokesman said the girls were hospitalized at Icon hospital near the accident site and were discharged after providing treatment.
