Youth using SP MLA’s fake FB profile held

The police have arrested the youth who had used a fake facebook profile of Samajwadi Party MLA Vinay Tewari to post objectionable and vulgar comments on the wall of a local woman BJP leader.

The nabbed youth was identified as Saurabh Gupta of Kumharan Tola of Gola town. Deputy superintendent of police, Gola, Anurag Darshan told HT that the police had recovered the handset and the SIM used in posting controversial comments. Six other pre-activated SIM cards were also recovered from his shop, police said.

On Monday night, the comments were posted on the wall of a local woman BJP leader from a facebook profile which bore the photograph of Tewari, who represents Gola Gokaranath in the legislative assembly. The matter came to fore when the BJP leader approached Gola kotwali and lodged an FIR. The Gola SP legislator also reached kotwali and lodged FIR.

In view of this, Kheri SP Akhilesh Chaurasiya instructed Gola DSP Anurag Darshan and Gola kotwali incharge SN Dwivedi, along with a cyber surveillance team, to work out the case. Inspector SN Dwivedi told HT that the minute observation of the profile of the fake id revealed the involvement of a local youth, who had created the fake id on July 23 last.

Tewari lauded the police efforts and told Hindustan Times that he was not unaware about the youth who impersonated him on facebook and created trouble.
