LUCKNOW: There was high drama near Loreto crossing as a Kanpur sub-inspector (S-I) Shiv Prasad Dubey trained his revolver on traffic cops when they stopped his car while creating a green corridor for the passage of ambulances transporting human organs here on Thursday.

The police, however, stated that the movement of ambulances was uninterrupted and the organs were transported swiftly.

The incident took place around 10.50am when the organ of a brain-dead patient at KGMU was being transported to the Amausi airport from where it was to be flown to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi. The green corridor was made from Chowk to PGI and airport via Ahimamau and Shaheed Path.

Dubey, who is posted in the cyber crime cell in Kanpur, had come here regarding some work. He allegedly drove his car into the corridor while coming from Cantt side and did not stop when traffic cops asked him to do so.

The S-I entered into a brawl with two traffic constables – Pancham Singh and Deepu Verma threatening them with dire consequences.

“He also attacked a traffic subinspector (TSI) Krishna Murari when he tried to intervene and trained his revolver on him,” said Alok Pathak, district police spokesman.

The entire drama lasted around 30 minutes and both parties were later taken to Gautampalli police station. He said the local police initially tried to resolve the issue through talks, but FIRs were lodged by both parties when they refused to relent.

Pathak said the TSI lodged an FIR against Dubey under IPC section 332 for attacking with intent to deter public servant from doing his duty and section 506 for threatening with dire consequences. He said Dubey too lodged an FIR against the TSI and two constables for attacking him and using abusive words. The report regarding his misbehavior and FIR lodged against him would be sent to the SSP for further departmental action, he added.
