BSP demands immediate arrest of Dayashankar Singh

THE BSP’S DEMAND COINCIDED WITH A BJP PROTEST EARLIER IN THE DAY IN WHICH THE BJP’S WOMEN WING DEMANDED ARREST OF BSP LEADER NASEEMUDDIN SIDDIQUI.

The Bahujan Samaj Party demanded immediate arrest of expelled UP BJP leader Dayashankar Singh on Thursday soon after the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court refused to stay expelled UP BJP vice president Dayashankar’s arrest.

BSP leader Mewalal had got the FIR registered against Singh at the Hazratganj police station on July 20 for the derogatory remarks that the expelled BJP leader had made against BSP’s national president Mayawati.

The BSP’s demand coincided with a BJP protest earlier in the day in which the BJP’s women wing demanded arrest of BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui. The BJP has accused Siddiqui of making derogatory remarks against women members of Dayashankar’s family.

In a press release issued later in the day, Mayawati dismissed BJP demand. “To give communal colour to the entire episode, the BJP leaders are targeting national general secretary of the BSP Naseemuddin Siddiqui. The party supporters should remain alert of the BJP ploy”, she said.

Mayawati alleged that due to a tacit understanding between the SP and the BJP, Dayashankar hasn’t been arrested so far. She also termed the police raids to arrest Singh as ‘eyewash’.

“How are the cops unable to locate him when his interviews are being carried by the media and his pictures have been published from Jharkhand?” she asked. Mayawati alleged that BJP protests were aimed at misguiding the people.

She claimed the turnout during the BJP’s protest was poor and that it indicated that BJP’s attempts to politicise the issue had failed. “BSP leaders did not make derogatory remark against the women family members of Dayashankar Singh. They had demanded the presence of his women relatives at the demonstration as the workers wanted to ask certain questions,” Mayawati claimed.
