- HT Correspondent

It was a perfect start for the Sunrise Club in the District Football League-2016 on Thursday as they notched up biggest-ever 7-0 win of this season against LDA Club, at the Chowk Stadium. Union Club blanked out CMS, Aliganj 2-0 in other match of the day.

Maintaining total dominance over rivals from the very start of the game, Sunrise Club scored goals on regular intervals and were leading by 4-0 at the lemon break. Minga struck back-toback goals in the 10th and 20th minutes, respectively to push the winners into lead (2-0). Sachin and Utkarsh then netted a goal each to consolidate the lead before the break (4-0).

Things didn’t change much even after a change in the ends and LDA Club kept begging for the ball. Kapil scored in the 45th and 55th minutes, respectively to increase the lead to 6-0 before Binay striking the last goal.

Undoubtedly, CMS lads put a brave show for the first 20 minutes of play when they denied the rivals to score a goal. But Varun’s angular shot from the right flank in the 23rd minute pushed them back. Though they tried to stage a comeback by scoring the equaliser, it remained a distant dream and in the 48th minute, Himanshu struck another goal for the winners to break their tempo.
