Parishad passes supplementary budget amid uproar by BJP
LUCKNOW: The Vidhan Parishad on Wednesday passed the supplementary budget by a voice vote amidst an uproar by the BJP over the law and order situation in the state. Thereafter, the house was adjourned till August 29.
As soon as the upper house met at 11am, all the BJP members trooped into the well, displaying banners and posters with anti-government slogans. They alleged that the law and order situation had deteriorated sharply with the criminals and the mafia ruling the roost in the state.
Vidhan Parishad chairman Ramesh Yadav adjourned the house thrice when the BJP members did not relent. As the house reassembled at 3pm, the BJP members again trooped into the well and staged a sit-in there, shouting slogans.
In the meantime, the supplementary budget-2016-17 was tabled in the house as proposed by leader of house Ahmed Hasan. It was passed by a voice vote. Four bills already passed by the Vidhan Sabha were also cleared. VS PASSES DEMANDS
Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday passed the state government’s first supplementary demands of grant (supplementary budget) for 2016-2017. Chief minister had presented his government’s supplementary demands to the tune of `25347.86 crore in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday.
Out of them, demands for `24879.44 crore were put to vote and the Vidhan Sabha passed them by a voice vote. The house also passed the Vidhan Sabha Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (supplementary of 2016-2017) Bill 2016.
