LUCKNOW: Yet another dengue patient died on Friday while over 50 patients were admitted to different hospitals in the past 24 hours.

A 54-year-old woman, resident of Mohanlalganj, was admitted to hospital on Wednesday night. She had tested positive for dengue in the card test and was under treatment during which she died. The number of people reaching to hospital OPDs with high fever is also increasing.

Among those admitted to hospital is a constable, who is recuperating at Civil Hospital along with 53 others. The dengue wards are full in every government hospital.

City hospitals are doing the card test for suspected cases of dengue and after a confirmation, the samples are being sent for ELISA test to the state nodal centre. For further confirmation, samples are also being sent to the state referral lab, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences and King George’s Medical University.

Doctors say people panic due to half baked information. “Many are going for dengue test even without a doctor prescribing them to do so. This is not required as tests are prescribed on the basis of the condition of the patient and not on the wish of an individual,” said a government doctor.
