‘Diversions in Ganj to be implemented after consulting traders’
Traffic diversions in Hazratganj in wake of the ongoing metro rail work would not be implemented without consulting the traders of the heritage market.
The Hazratganj Traders’ Association had accused the administration of implementing partial diversions without consulting them.
However, the traders’ body promised to cooperate in metro work.
Habib-ul-Hasan, SP (traffic), said full traffic diversions would be implemented after due consultations with the traders.
“We will implement diversions soon after removing encroachments on Newal Kishore Road, where most of the traffic coming from Chowk side would be diverted. A meeting with the traders’ association has been called on Saturday,” said Habib-ul-Hasan.

was trying to meet district authorities to request them to provide a blueprint of the traffic plan which would be implemented in the area for the next three years.
“The traders would cooperate with the district administration vis-a-vis the traffic plan, but we want transparency in whatever the administration does here in Ganj. The traders are stakeholders in the heritage market and we are concerned about the façade and heritage value of the market,” said Bhambwani.
