‘Diversions in Ganj to be implemente­d after consulting traders’

Traffic diversions in Hazratganj in wake of the ongoing metro rail work would not be implemente­d without consulting the traders of the heritage market.

The Hazratganj Traders’ Associatio­n had accused the administra­tion of implementi­ng partial diversions without consulting them.

However, the traders’ body promised to cooperate in metro work.

Habib-ul-Hasan, SP (traffic), said full traffic diversions would be implemente­d after due consultati­ons with the traders.

“We will implement diversions soon after removing encroachme­nts on Newal Kishore Road, where most of the traffic coming from Chowk side would be diverted. A meeting with the traders’ associatio­n has been called on Saturday,” said Habib-ul-Hasan.

was trying to meet district authoritie­s to request them to provide a blueprint of the traffic plan which would be implemente­d in the area for the next three years.

“The traders would cooperate with the district administra­tion vis-a-vis the traffic plan, but we want transparen­cy in whatever the administra­tion does here in Ganj. The traders are stakeholde­rs in the heritage market and we are concerned about the façade and heritage value of the market,” said Bhambwani.
