AKTU to start course in digital marketing

-

LUCKNOW: The APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University — Asia’s biggest engineering institution — has signed a memorandum of understanding with IndiaMART. com, the country’s largest online marketplace, to jointly run a course on digital marketing as one of the elective subjects from next semester.

They will introduce pool campus which means engineering and MBA students all over 600 colleges affiliated to AKTU. Normally in campus placement, students of a particular college are benefitted. In this, students from across the state can take part in placement.

AKTU vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak said, “Digital marketing is fast emerging as major platform where people are doing shopping. It was thought that the university should tap this area and expose its MBA and engineering students to this emerging area and help them get jobs after they complete the course.”

There is a paradigm shift from marketing to digital marketing. Hence, a need was felt to roll out a course on digital marketing. The university approached Indiamart. com and they were more than willing to partner with AKTU for this common cause.

Prof Pathak added, “There has been a gap between academic syllabus and industry need. To bridge this, we decided to partner with Indiamart.com and run a course jointly. It will start as an elective course. Once the course becomes popular, it could be included as a core subject.”

Speaking on the occasion Dinesh Agarwal, founder and CEO of Indiamart said, “Projectbased learning module will be followed instead of regular chapters. We are hopeful that students will immensely benefit from this new initiative. Depending upon the response from students, we may scale up our activity on the campus.”
