WHITE TIGER CUBS BORN IN ZOO AFTER 15 YEARS

LUCKNOW: White tigress Vishakha gave birth to three cubs in Lucknow zoo early on Friday. However, one of them died. Interestingly, Vishakha was paired with Aryan, the white tiger born in 2001 in Lucknow zoo. She was brought here from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh in 2014, under animal exchange programme. Of the three cubs, one was extremely weak and did not take milk after birth. It died on Friday at 9.30 am. “We have kept the newborns and mother in isolation and doctors are attending to them with all precautions so that nothing goes wrong,” said Anupam Gupta, director of the zoo. Only one keeper is allowed to go to the place where they are kept under CCTV surveillance while monitoring is being done by other staff. The newborns open their eyes in 8 to 10 days. There has been a birth of white tiger at Lucknow zoo after a gap of 15 years – the last being Aryan. Gupta said that the cubs would remain in isolation for the next one month.
