Woman raped for over eight months, accused arrested

The wife of a railway employee in Puranpur area of Pilibhit has accused a man of raping her for eight months after threatening to circulate obscene videos. The man had allegedly filmed the video when he raped the woman. The incident came to light after the accused circulated the obscene videos.

“We have arrested Satendra Singh who allegedly raped and circulated the obscene videos. We have also alerted the IT cell to stop the circulation of the videos,” said circle officer (CO) of Puranpur Rajeshwar Singh. According to the woman’s complaint, Satendra first raped her in January when she was alone at home and made a video of the act. Since then, he allegedly raped her several times and made videos, threatening to circulate them if she told anyone.

But ultimately when she refused to succumb to his demands, he circulated the videos via Whatsapp.

“The woman’s husband came to know about the videos on Thursday and she also told him her story. The couple then reported the matter to the police,” said the CO. “We have registered a complaint against the accused under section 375(rape) of Indian Penal Code and formed a team to investigate the matter,” he said.

Police have also recovered the mobile phone which was allegedly used to record and circulate the obscene videos. “The phone has been sent to the IT cell to retrieve the videos and other information,” said the CO. The woman and the accused were also taken for medical examination.
