CISF jawan shoots himself at Metro station, panic among commuters

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan posted at the Violet Line’s Mewla Maharajpur Metro station shot himself to death using his service pistol on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 7.30 am when TC Rathor Alpesh (28) was in the CCTV control room, local police said.

There was commotion at the station as passengers panicked over the gunshot sounds.

Senior police officers, including from the nearby Sector 31 police station, rushed to the spot.

“The jawan shot himself to death with his allotted 9mm pistol”, police said. Cops recovered empty shells of the cartridge.

“We recovered a suicide note… Though the suicide note written in Hindi is not legible, it appears the deceased had some dispute with his family,” said Sector 31 police station house officer, Rajinder Singh.

Alpesh allegedly held only himself responsibl­e.

The Gujarat native was posted at the Mewla Maharajpur Metro station for the past t wo years, even before the line became functional, said police.

“The deceased had some family issue as he had been in love with a girl whom he married a few years ago and has a girl child also,” officials investigat­ing the case said.

His wife is from Maharashtr­a and the two reportedly got married against his family’s wishes.

His wife and ten-month-old daughter live in Badarpur.

The body was sent to BK Hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the family.

The body was being taken to Gujarat for last rites when the reports last came in.
