A Banaras Hindu University (BHU) student has alleged that he was sodomised by five men, including a lab assistant, on August 13, police said.
Additional public relations officer (BHU) Dr Rajesh Singh on Saturday said that the university administration has set up a threemember committee to probe the matter. The committee would file its report in a week.
The student alleged that five men dragged him into a car on the pretext of asking an address when he was standing near the medical college on the BHU campus. He was taken into the car at knife point, he alleged. Several students staged a demonstration on Saturday, demanding action in the matter.
Three days after the incident, the student lodged a complaint against the lab assistant and four unidentified people at Lanka Police station. He claimed that he was sent for medical examination on August 23, but it was not carried out properly. He has demanded medical re-examination. In his complaint, the youth said that he was standing near the medical college. Suddenly, a car drove up and a man called me on the pretext of asking an address, he added. “As I went near the car, they dragged me in and took me at knife point. There were five persons in the car. The lab assistant pressed a bottle into my mouth and poured wine,” the victim said.
The morning after the incident, he lodged a complaint with the proctor’s office against the lab assistant, who is posted in microbiology department, and four others. The victim also lodged a complaint with the VC’s office on August 19.
