With two sub inspectors dying of the disease and some others undergoing treatment in city hospitals, a dengue panic has gripped the Lucknow police force.

Taking serious note of the matter, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Lucknow Manzil Saini on Saturday issued a clear directive for cops to go on pre-approved leave if suffering from dengue.

Saini said that the cops suffering from high fever and suspected dengue could go on pre-approved leave without getting clearance from senior officials.

She said the senior officials could approve the leave of such cops later on, as good health of police personnel was on top priority.

The SSP said the disease had really created panic among police personnel, as sub inspectors Krishna Gopal Shukla and Anil Kumar Pandey succumbed to the disease. She said reserve inspector-I Ashok Kumar Mishra was also suffering from dengue and undergoing treatment in Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) for the past three days.

The SSP also directed proper fogging and cleanliness drive in police lines and other residential colonies on police stations campuses in the city. Moreover, a health check-up camp was also organized in the Reserve Police Lines for the policemen and their family members on Saturday.

The SSP said the camp was organised under the supervision of chief medical officer (CMO) Lucknow.

She said the doctors offered free consultation and check-up of police personnel and their families.

“Free medicines were also provided to people who were diagnosed with ailments,” she said.
