One more patient dies

Yet another suspected dengue patient died and over a dozen fresh cases were reported here on Saturday.

A 19-year-old youth who was admitted to a private hospital two days ago died during treatment. Besides, patients with high fever thronged hospitals since morning.

Though OPDs get over an hour early on the last working day of the week, due to heavy inflow of patients doctors had to sit an hour extra after closing time.

Health department and municipal corporatio­n teams got antilarva spray done at different localities and also distribute­d pamphlets containing messages on how to keep safe from mosquitoes. Long queues were seen at the pathology labs in hospitals as doctors prescribed card test for suspected dengue cases. “We are advising card test to suspected patients in our hospital while those testing positive are advised ELISA test and also a test at state referral lab for dengue,” said Dr EU Siddiqui, director, Balrampur hospital.

In Mohanlganj, from where dozens of high fever cases were reported in the past three days, four suspected cases of dengue came up during the day. Samples of these patients have been sent for a confirmato­ry test.

The administra­tion has asked cinema halls to display preventive measures before and during interval of the movies being screened.
