Deepti to lead UP women’s in one-day cricket

Indian star Deepti Sharma would be leading the 15-member Uttar Pradesh in the Plate Group Senior women’s one-day cricket tournament to be played at Cuttack from October 1 to 9. Other members of the team are: Shivangi Raj, Bhawna Tomer, Anju Rani, Apoorva Bhardwaj, Ayushi Chaudhary, Neetu Singh, Shashi Mathur, Neeshu Chaudhary, Ekta Singh, Tanu Kala, Shaifali Sahu, Sweta Verma and Shiva Kothari. VANSH-ANUJ IN FINAL Vansh Panjwani will meet Anuj Bhargava in the snooker final of the 2nd Nawab Emaduddin Ashraf Memorial Billiards and Snooker Tournament here, at the Oudh Gymkhana Club. Vansh defeated Anurag Bhaskar 96-77, 70-37, 96-53, 22-70, 45-83, 70-41, whereas Anuj beat Vishwajeet Shaw 75-50, 29-77, 56-67, 64-39, 77-52, 81-56. BIG WIN Dhruva Cricket Academy (DCA) scored a convincing 80-run win against Gulmohar Academy ‘Blue’ to collect full points in the Gulmohar Cricket League, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Wednesday. CAL TRIUMPH CAL scored an innings and 200-run win against Aryavrat Cricket Academy in the twoday REPL Under-16 Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday. VETERANS CRICKET As many as eight teams would be participat­ing in the 1st Neelam Devi Veterans Premier League, starting October 2 under the auspices of the Cricket Buddies Club. The participat­ing teams include, Microlit Cricket Gymkhana, CAL, Media XI, LVCA, Himalayan Cricket Club, Jal Sansthan and Team India Veterans Club. LDACC WIN LDACC scored a three-wicket win against LCA Club and earned full points in the 2nd Jahanavi Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament, at the LDA Stadium here on Wednesday. Needing 110 to win in reply, LDACC romped home in 25 overs. LOCAL GIRLS SHINE Lucknow girls staged a fine show and stormed into the semifinals of State Women’s Tennis Tournament. Meenu Pandey beat Iram 6-0, Ashi Kapoor beat Mariyam 6-4, Sitara Sani beat Kanika 6-3, whereas Allahabad’s Muskan Yadav beat Surabhi 6-4 in quarterfin­al.
