Another student dies of dengue

ALARMING Over 100 people have so far died of dengue/high fever in Lucknow

Another student died of dengue fever in the state capital on Wednesday. “La Martiniere College mourns the death of Vardan Saxena, a Class 4 day scholar, who died of dengue fever last night…” reads the message on the website of La Martiniere College. Last week, two senior students of Spring Dale College (Indira Nagar branch) succumbed to suspected dengue fever within a span of 12 hours.

Another student died of dengue in the state capital on Wednesday night. “La Martiniere College mourns the death of Vardan Saxena, a Class 4 day scholar, who died of dengue fever last night…” reads the message on the website of La Martiniere College.

Principal Carlyle McFarland said, “We are extremely saddened to share the news of the sad demise of the Class 4 student. To mourn the departed soul, the school will remain closed on Friday.”

Last week, two senior students of Spring Dale College (Indira Nagar branch) succumbed to suspected dengue fever within a span of 12 hours. While Yash Srivastava of Class 10 passed away at 4 am last Friday, Sanchari, a student of Class 11, succumbed to fever a day before.

Apart from these students, over a 100 people undergoing treatment for dengue/high fever had so far succumbed in Lucknow while over 500 took treatment for the same till now. But the health department identified only 415 dengue patients including 10 fresh cases on Thursday.

Teams from the health department and municipal corporatio­n were conducting anti-larva spray at some places and fogging at three or four places, which was insufficie­nt to contain mosquito breeding.
