Some woman organizations, social activists and a local MLA Ravidas Mehrotra, who was recently appointed as cabinet minister in the Samajwadi Party (SP) government, visited the victim but they only offered assurances and no financial help.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manzil Saini along with circle officer (CO) of Alambagh Amita Singh visited the victim in the hospital to obtain more details about the robbery, including the daciots’ appearance.

Taking serious note of the incident, the SSP on Thursday suspended sub-inspector Vinod Yadav, the station officer (SO) of Para police station, another sub-inspector, the beat in charge of Salempur Pataura village of Para where the crime took place and a beat constable.

Sources said the personnel were suspended allegedly for negligence in performing their duties and inability to solve the case. “Vinod Yadav was earlier posted as SOs of other prime police stations in the state capital but was removed over the same reasons. He recently managed to get posted as the SO, Para due to political connections,” said a source. He added that some other SOs may also be suspended by the SSP for their negligence.

The SSP herself patrolled Kakori and Malihabad areas on Wednesday night after two incidents of dacoity were reported in Para and Kakori on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. She has issued strict orders to all police stations to intensify night patrolling to avert such incidents.

The in charges of the stations on the city outskirts were especially asked to be alert in their areas since both incidents occurred on the outskirts.

Meanwhile even after 40 hours of the incident, the city police has failed to make any headway. District police spokesman Alok Pathak said crime branch sleuths were working on the case and the culprits would soon be arrested.
