Anganwadi workers plan another stir

Anganwadi workers are planning another stir as they are not satisfied with the hike in their stipend. The state government had on Wednesday announced a monthly hike of `800 in the amount.

“The state government had promised they would contribute equal share like the central government is contributing for the stipend of anganwadi workers. The centre gives Rs 3,000 while the state, till now was giving Rs 200, which has been increased to Rs 800, putting the monthly figure of stipend at Rs 4,000. This is not increment but charity,” said Veena Gupta, general secretary, AllIndia Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, addressing a press conference on Thursday.
