UPIF to fight for deprived sections of the society

THE UPIF SLAMMED BOTH BSP AND SP OVER THEIR SILENCE AND INACTION ON THE FINDINGS OF NIMESH COMMISSION AND JUSTICE VISHNU SAHAI COMMISSION ON MUZAFFARNAGAR RIOTS.

Newly formed alliance of nine smaller parties UP Ittehad Front (UPIF) on Thursday said it would contest the UP assembly elections 2017 by uniting Muslims, Dalits and OBCs on a platform and highlighting the failures of successive regimes, both in the state and at the centre.

“Be it the ruling Samajwadi Party or the BSP regime prior to it in UP or the Congress and BJP governments at the Centre, almost all major political parties have neglected, deprived and marginalised sections of the society. They (mainstream political parties) have indulged in corruption, nepotism and amassed personal wealth. As a result of which former chief ministers are facing CBI inquiries, law and order has gone for a toss,” said leaders of the Front. Fed up with being used as mere vote banks by all major political parties, people were desperately looking for a political alternative, which the Front would provide, it said.

In a joint statement, the UPIF slammed both BSP and SP over their silence and inaction on the findings of Nimesh Commission and Justice Vishnu Sahai Commission on Muzaffarnagar riots. “The sense of deprivation has engulfed minorities, especially Muslims. The Dalits and other weaker sections too are frustrated equallly as only members of a particular caste are occupying plum positions in the state government,” the Front said. SQR Illyas, president of Welfare Party of India, said the confederation would strive for value based politics, inclusive democracy, good governance that would ensure equitable distribution of resources and empowerment of the weaker sections.

Mohammad Suleiman, president of Indian National League, another constituent of the Front, said they would expose the parties playing with the feelings of the people in the name of socialism and nationalism and provide a strong political alternative to oppressed and deprived class.

The UPIF said it would soon launch a public awareness campaign ahead of the assembly elections 2017 in UP and all likeminded parties were welcome to join it in the movement. Others who were present on the occasion included Tej Singh, national president of Ambedkar Samaj Party, Sushil Tripathi, general secretary of Samajwadi Janata Party, Saleem Peerzada, president Parcham Party of India, Shamsher Khan Pathan of Awami Vikas Party, Ashok Barati of Repulican Party of India (Prakash Ambedkar), Arshad Pawar of National Loktantrik Party and Ram Dev Gupta of National Democratic People’s Front.
