HC RESERVE VERDICT ON SMART PHONE SCHEME

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has on Thursday reserved its judgment on a PIL petition challengin­g the Samajwadi smart phone scheme after hearing the parties’ counsel on the point of its maintainab­ility. A division bench of justice Shree Narain Shukla and justice Anant Kumar heard the PIL filed by a local lawyer seeking directions for quashing the said scheme. Petitioner Ajmal Khan submitted that as per the said scheme launched by the state government, the provisions for registrati­on was made to get smart phone in the second half of 2017. The petitioner alleged that the said scheme was bad in the eyes of law.On behalf of the state government, opposing the petition additional advocate general (AAG) Bulbul Godiyal contended the petition was not maintainab­le as the petitioner had earlier filed another petition on the same subject matter that was dismissed by the court.
