Lucknow eves win hockey title in style

LUCKNOW: Hosts Lucknow eves had to struggle hard before scripting a 2-0 win against Meerut to win the hockey title of the State Women’s Sports Festival, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Friday. Kamla struck both the goals, one in each half to ensure Lucknow’s win.

CUE SPORTS Sachivalay­a cueists gave a splendid display here at the Oudh Gymkhana in the ongoing 2nd Nawab Emaduddin Ashraf Memorial Billiards league being played on the basis of handicap points even as the quarter finalists were spotted on Friday.

Azhar beat Rahul Singh 200-129, Pradeep Pandey beat IS Malik 200-146, Rahul Singh beat Shakeel Ahmad 200-196 and Surendra Kumar beat Faheem 200-195. Anuj Bhargava outplayed Asif 200-189, Shobhit Chandra and Robin Pandey filled up the remaining slots of the quarterfin­als.

SIC IN SEMIS Sound Images Club (SIC) stormed into the semi-finals of the 2nd Jahanvi Dutt Memorial Cricket League, scoring an emphatic 126-run win against UP Timber Club, at the Chowk Stadium here on Fridaty. After scoring 234 for eight in 40 overs, SIC got the rivals restrict for 141. In other match of the day, North Eastern Railways outplayed LDA Coaching Centre by seven wickets. LDACC made 213 for seven in 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, Ashish Yadav slammed an unbeaten 122 to help the side romp home in 32.5 overs, losing only three wickets. Yadav’s knock came off 100 balls with the bhelp of 14 fours and three sixes. Nishant Rai made unbeaten 30 with five hits to the fence.
