- HT Correspondent

A CBI team raided the Harcourt Butler Technological University (HBTU) in connection with Vyapam scam and seized documents and answer sheets of seven students, on Saturday.

Many students of the university are suspected to have appeared for entrance examinations as solvers. The CBI officials seized the answer sheets to match the handwriting of students.

HBTU registrar Shatrughan Singh handed over the answer sheets to CBI inspector Rishabh Shukla.

Sources said the CBI team had specifically asked for the details of seven BTech students of HBTU – Himanshu Saini, Anshul Mittal, Prashant, Ajay Pratap, Ajay Singh, Parikshit Yadav and Gajendra Singh.

Earlier too, the CBI had seized the records of HBTU students. The university comes on CBI radar after GSVM Medical College.

The special investigation team (SIT) and special task force (STF), which investigated the scam before CBI took over, had arrested 19 medical college students and issued notices to 52 others for personal appearance.

Ramesh Shivhare, the mastermind who roped in medical and engineering students to appear for examination on behalf of actual candidates, was from Bundelkhand.

After he was arrested, the CBI is building the case on the basis of the information provided by him during interrogation.

The CBI is also investigating the links of a coaching institute in Kakadeo with the racketeers.
