BJP DEMANDS FLOOR TEST
The opposition parties on Sunday launched a scathing attack against the ruling party. While the BJP demanded a floor test saying the government has lost majority, the BSP and Congress said the infighting had taken a toll on governance.
LUCKNOW: As the rift in Yadav family widened on Sunday, the opposition parties used the opportunity to corner the Samajwadi Party.
While the BJP demanded a floor test saying the Akhilesh Yadav government had lost majority, the BSP and the Congress said the infighting had taken a toll on governance.
“This government is now reduced to a minority and should not be allowed to take any policy decisions until it is able to prove its majority on the floor of the assembly,” UP BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said.
“The power tussle in the past 10 days has affected administrative functioning and people are not able to get their work done,” said chairman of the communication department of UP Congress, Satyadeo Tripathi.
BSP general secretary Satish Mishra said the people would teach a lesson to the SP for its misrule in the UP assembly elections 2017. “There is no governance. Law and order situation has taken a nosedive and people are fed up of the family feud,” said Mishra while addressing a public rally in eastern UP.
Alleging that the state’s development has taken a hit in the ‘chacha-bhatija’ feud, UP BJP president Maurya said, “Whether majority of lawmakers are with the CM or Shivpal can only be proved on the floor of the assembly. That is why a floor test is important now,” Maurya said.
“By removing ministers, some of whom were accused of being involved in huge scams, the CM has tried to indicate that he stands for clean governance. But why did he tolerate these ministers for so long? In fact, there are several ministers in his government who carry serious charges. Why has Akhileshji been protecting them? The reality is that all this infighting is to share the money of ‘public loot’,” Maurya alleged.
