- HT Correspondent

NAIK HAS CALLED A MEETING OF V-CS TO FIND OUT WAYS AND MEANS AS TO HOW EVALUATION WORK COULD BE EXPEDITED.

After regularising the academic session of state universities, Governor Ram Naik wants to bring about reforms in the evaluation system so that answer copies are checked quickly and results declared on time.

Naik, who is also chancellor of all the state universities, has called a meeting of vicechancellors of 27 universities to find out ways and means as to how evaluation work could be expedited. It is an open secret that senior professors of universities and degree colleges do not take much interest in evaluation work.

Hence teachers of selffinancing colleges are engaged in evaluation work. As the number of answer copies is high, the evaluation work gets delayed. The evaluators always race against time to complete the task and students often complain about anomalies in evaluation work.

There are occasions when students point out anomalies in evaluation work. In many universities, evaluation work continues till July and results are declared even in August. Governor Naik wants to plug this inordinate delay in evaluation work.

The governor had formed a two-member committee of Prof Mohd Muzammil of Agra University and Prof JV Vaishampayn of Kanpur University to suggest measures on expediting evaluation work.
