SP, BSP and Cong treat farmers as vote banks, says minister
Launching a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress for failure of their respective governments to improve the lot of farmers, Union minister of agriculture and farmer welfare Radha Mohan Singh on Sunday said that these parties ‘used the agrarian community as their vote bank only.’
In a veiled attack on Congress and its vice president Rahul Gandhi, he said that the party which ruled the country for 60 years didn’t even know the difference between various crops! “The ruling Samajwadi Party too ignored farmers’ interest and did not help them get their rights. Compensation provided by the Centre to drought-hit farmers was not distributed by the state government. “In many areas we are receiving complaints that farmers have not been compensated for the loss of their crops due to draught,” said Singh after laying the foundation stone of Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Chauk Mafi village in Pipiganj.
