MLC ALLEGES ASSAULT BY MINISTER, SAYS CM SAVED HIM

-

Samajwadi Party (SP) MLC Ashu Malik was reportedly beaten up by UP minister Pawan Pandey outside the residence of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for disrupting the party meeting held at the headquarters here on Monday.

“Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav saved me when these people tried to hit me at the party meeting. He (CM) brought me in his car to his residence. I was sitting in the lounge after CM left to meet ‘netaji’ (Mulayam Singh Yadav) when all of a sudden Pawan Pandey came in and started abusing me. He also assaulted me and I am going to lodge a police complaint against him,” Malik told HT.

The MLC from Ghaziabad became the centre of attention at the concluding session of the SP meeting called by Mulayam when the CM asked to him to reveal the name of the person who planted a story in a English daily. Amidst the feud in the Yadav family, the story drew a parallel between Mulayam and Akhilesh with Mughal emperor Shahjahan and Aurangzeb. “Some reporters had met me and told me that the story was planted by an SP leader in Delhi,” Malik said without taking the name of Amar Singh.

He said the CM wanted him to narrate this incident before Mulayam to prove that it was Singh who was responsible for the infighting in the party but party workers misunderstood the situation. “They started hurling abuses and chairs at me. I am grateful to the CM that he rescued me from them,” said Malik.
