After reports of examination paper leak, the King George’s Medical University has set up a probe committee to look into the matter. The controller of examination, KGMU has started the process to re-conduct the examination in case the probe committee finds that the paper was actually leaked.

The pictures of question paper of Microbiology for MBBS second year (exams for which were held on February 17) were being circulated on the social messaging app ‘Whatsapp’ the next day. The matter was informed to the examination observer, who reported it to the controller of examination.

“Primarily, it does not seem a leak as the pictures were circulated the next day. But as the question paper is not given to students to carry home, it is noteworthy how pictures came out,” said prof AK Singh, controller of examination, KGMU. “Someone might have carried cellphone inside the examination hall and we need to check any such possibility,” he added.

As per the system, answer key is provided to students with the result, while question paper is submitted back to invigilators after the exam.

The entire paper was of 22-pages out of which four were circulated on social media. It was alleged that the question paper was sold by some people for ₹5000. “We are checking every angle and will be able to say something concrete only when the probe report comes,” said Prof Singh. He said the three-member committee would also check if any of the staff was involved in the alleged leak or it was a mischief by students.

Since KGMU students have been found to be involved in rackets supplying proxy solvers and a few were also picked up by Madhya Pradesh police for the Vyapam scam, the authorities want to check every aspect.
