After slogging for the fourth phase of polling held here on February 23, officebearers and activists of Kashi pranth unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) are all set to finalise the plan for the forthcoming Ram Mahotsav. The fest will be organised all over the country from March 29 to April 11 and is aimed at enlisting maximum support of Hindus for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

According to Ashwani Mishra, a district unit office -bearer of the VHP, the plan for the proposed Ram Mahotsav will be finalised in a couple of days and will be forwarded to VHP leaders and activists in all 18 districts of Uttar Pradesh under the purview of Kashi pranth. The Ram Mahotsav would include Shobha Yatras, Akhand Path and Kirtan Bhajan at around 5,000 select places all over the country, including 300 locations in UP’s 18 districts.

“After the Mahotsav was proposed in Margdarshak Mandal meet held in Magh Mela last month, the VHP cadre got busy with assembly polls. Now since the fourth phase polling involving Allahabad and other neighbouring districts is over, necessary initiative would be undertaken to go ahead with the proposed programme,” he said.

The VHP’s Kashi pranth Sangathan Mantri Mukeshji confirmed that elaborate discussions were held in Margdarshak Mandal of VHP recently on construction of the Ram Temple.

To recall, senior VHP leaders had announced in the Sant Sammelan held during the recently concluded Magh Mela that they would go ahead with the Ram Temple, whether or not the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected to power in UP. They had also expressed concern over delay in the temple construction. VHP’s international general secretary Champat Rai had repeatedly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for temple construction and warned that in case of failure on his part to do so, the VHP could pull back its support.

Seers at the Sant Sammelan had also cautioned PM Modi, citing an example from Ramayan that Ram made Sugreev king of Kishkindha but after becoming king, Sugreev forgot to help him in searching for Sita. An agitated Laxman resolved teach Sugreev a lesson but Ram asked Laxman to be patient. “If we can make Modi PM we can also do the reverse,” said one of the saints.
