Senior superintendent of police, Manzil Saini, on Sunday ordered a preliminary inquiry against the investigation officers concerned for delays in two high profile cases involving controversial Samajwadi Party leader, Gayatri Prajapati and senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.

After Amitabh Thakur and his wife Nutan approached the SSP on Sunday, she assured the couple that the probe against them will be completed within a month.

The Thakurs had demanded that either the police should arrest them or give them clean chit in connection with the rape FIR lodged against them.

The other probe relates to the FIR filed by Nutan Thakur against Gayatri Prajapati.

Nutan had accused Prajapati of hatching a conspiracy against her husband to frame him in a fake rape case.

She said this happened after she had complained to the Lokayukta, charging the SP leader with illegal mining.

Nutan said after that, an FIR of rape was registered against her and her husband with the Gomti Nagar police in July 2015.

“It’s over 18 months now. So, it can’t be denied that the investigation officers have delayed the probe in both the cases. I have ordered preliminary inquiry against circle officer of Gomti Nagar, Satya Sen Yadav, who is investigating the rape case, and the inspector of Gomti Nagar police station, MK Mishra, who is the investigation officer in the case against Gayatri Prajapati,” said Saini.

The SSP said that so far no evidence had been found that showed any link between the IPS officer and the Noida woman who had accused the couple of rape.

She said the investigation officer had been asked to discuss the matter with legal experts and conclude the probe at the earliest.
