CONGRESS UTTARAKHAND CONVENTION ON MARCH 2
DEHRADUN: After the hectic electioneering, Congress leaders from across Uttarakhand including all the 70 candidates of the party are set to meet together for the first time in Dehradun on March 2 to discuss strategy.
The meeting convened by Congress state chief Kishore Upadhyay in Dehradun will see senior leaders discuss and hold talks on matters such as detailed discussion of assembly segment-wise feedback post polls and future strategy of the grand old party.
Polling for 69 assembly seats of Uttarakhand were held on February 15, while elections for Karnaprayag (which were postponed after the death of a candidate) will be held on March 9. Counting of votes will be held on March 11.
“We (Congress members) are like a family. Since, we’ll not be winning all the 70 seats, the idea behind holding the convention is to come together and meet like family members in a cheerful atmosphere before the assembly results are announced on March 11,” Upadhyay told HT. “Besides deliberating over feedback from all assembly segments, we will be also be discussing a strategy regarding what all the organization can do to remain on the forefront even after the elections.”
Upadhyay said that the convention will also “make up for the lost opportunities” as the monthly state Congress committee meetings – which are held on 24th of every month – had not been held for over two months now due to the election engagements.
All Congress office bearers, district and town heads of the party, heads of various committees and frontal organizations of the party and assembly observers will also be taking part in the meeting.
