The income tax department is coming up with a mobile phone application that will contain all details of tax payers. Ashu Jain, director general, income tax vigilance, UP and Uttarakhand, made this announcement while addressing a gathering of entrepreneurs at the UP Business Summit, organised here on Monday.

In a message to those who may still be hiding their income and assuming themselves to be safe after depositing money in bank accounts post demonetisation, Jain said, “Such people are mistaken. We have the technology and the software to scrutinise all accounts within two years. So, no black money can be protected. Like Swachh Bharat mission, we have launched Swacch Dhan (clean money) mission. We are confident that we can achieve this.”

Jain also discussed the changes that are expected to come up in the state with regards to tax policies. He said that by reducing tax rates, MSMEs were being encouraged to get themselves registered as corporate identities. “Increase in tax administration and development of technology has made it easier for the department to identify tax evaders and defaulters,” he added.

He also spoke about government electronic portals like e-samadhan and e-nivaran, and income tax related mobile applications. “These have brought down the need of public interaction and have made the lives of citizens of India much more convenient,” said Jain.

Alok Ranjan, chief advisor to the UP chief minister was also present at the event. He spoke in detail about the skill sets that should be possessed by today’s youth while looking for employment opportunities.

“Even though around 46 lakh people have registered for the skill mission and about five lakh have already been imparted training, we still need to go a long way before we see Uttar Pradesh filled with employable youth,” he said. “Response to continuous technology development should be very quick. that’s because the skills being taught today may become useless tomorrow. So, a link between the industry and the education system is the most important thing,” he added.

Ranjan also dwelt on the significance of personality and communication skills. “Our educational institutions need to make this a part of their curriculum,” he stressed.

Chairperson, CII northern region and group managing director, Feedback Infra Pvt Ltd, Rumjhum Chatterjee also addressed the audience. “Entrepreneurship should be encouraged for our youth - both in urban and rural areas - because we are unaware of the job opportunities that will come up in future.”

She also emphasised on the need to have the right kind of talent mentor the youth of the state in order to help them realise their full potential.

Head of Yash Group, Ved Krishna spoke on genetic engineering. “We have to think and act beyond the current necessities,” he said.
