Union minister Anupriya Patel is hopeful of getting ministerial berths for some of the 9 elected MLAs of Apna Dal (Sonelal) in the Uttar Pradesh government.

Addressing the first meeting of elected MLAs here on Wednesday, Anupriya Patel said that as a partner BJP in Uttar Pradesh her party (Apna Dal) will be the part of the government. “Someone from our MLAs will be the leader of the legislature party, some minister, someone will head commission or committee, as there are many options,” she said asking her MLAs to trust her policies and decisions.

“For me no individual is big but the party is,” she added.

At the meeting, she once again reiterated her affection for her mother Krishna Patel, with whom she is at loggerheads over leadership of the Apna Dal.

Anupriya said differences with her mother were just to save the party and her mother must also be happy with the performance of the Apna Dal (S).

“The kind of struggle Dr Sonelal Patel did to make the party, similar sacrifice was made by my respected mother Krishna Patelji,” she said inside the packed Ganna Sansthan auditorium.

“I am saying this today as I have gone through pain. From the social media to even among workers, a lot of allegations and comments came up before me,” she said adding, “Respect for mother is on top.”

Anupriya’s words in the event, however, had no meaning for her sister Pallavi Patel, who is leading the Apna Dal along with Krishna Patel.

“If Anupriya wants to come back to the old Apna Dal, she is welcome .b But there is no chance of merger with her party, whatever she may say,” said Pallavi, reacting to Anupariya’s statement.

Anupriya is presently an MP from Apna Dal but her sister said she had been expelled from the party.

Speaking to MLAs, Anupriya said, “In some corner of her heart mother must be happy to see the party’s performance.”

Anupriya asked the MLAs to make sure they took the new party and its organisation to booth level in the entire state starting with the constituencies they have won. Apna Dal (Sonelal) has won nine seats, including one woman Leena Tiwari from Madiyaun (Jaunpur).
