Teenage girl accuses father of raping her

horrendous to even hear that a father raped his daughter, but a teenage girl turned up with this allegation before police in Chinhat area here on Friday morning.

The girl, 17, who is a Class 8 dropout and works as domestic help in some houses in Gomti Nagar extension, accused her ragpicker father of raping her in an inebriated state on intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The man was not found after the incident.

The girl told the cops that she, along with her father, migrated to Lucknow from their native place in Barabanki in 2016 when her cousin accused her parents (both father and mother) of raping her by holding captive in a house. She was staying here along with her father in a slum in Gomti Nagar since then. Her father remained elusive after then and did not return to his native place, while her mother surrendered in the alleged rape case on January 3, 2017 and is presently lodged in Barabanki jail. She said the accused returned home in a heavily drunk state on Thursday night and started molesting her. She said some locals rescued her when she shouted for help but later, the accused held her hostage in the hut late in the night and raped her. She said the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she complained about the incident to anyone.

The girl said she sneaked out of the hut when her father was sleeping in the morning hours and approached a family where she used to work as domestic help. She shared her trauma with them and the family, in turn, informed the Chinhat police station about the crime.

Circle officer (CO) of Gomti Nagar, Satya Sen Yadav said the girl had narrated a shocking sequence of events. He said the girl had even alleged his uncle (father’s younger brother) of kidnapping and raping her in March 2016. “The girl‘s uncle was arrested and remained in jail for a few months. Her uncle’s daughter lodged a similar complaint against the girl’s parents a few months later in 2016,” he added.

The CO said the girl had refused to undergo medical examination and her father was missing. He said that raids were being made to arrest her father after which more facts regarding the whole incident were expected to come out.

MAN HELD FOR ‘RAPING’ MINOR

An electric mechanic, Awadh Kumar, 35 was arrested on Friday allegedly for raping a 12-year-old dalit girl in a Gomti Nagar slum. The accused had allegedly raped the girl staying in her neighbourhood when her parents were out for work on Wednesday afternoon. Her parents had asked the accused to keep an eye on the daughter in their absence but he took advantage of her being alone. The police have booked the man under IPC section 376 (2) for rape with a girl in his custody, section 3/4 of protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) act. A section of SC/ST act for atrocities against schedule castes and scheduled tribes has been also imposed against the accused.
