Gen Bipin Rawat visits HQ, Central Command
Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, president , Army Wives Welfare Association, visited Lucknow from March 23 to 24. They were received by lieutenant general Balwant Singh Negi, general officer commanding-in-chief (GOCin-C), Central Command and Ambika Choudhary, officiating regional president Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) at the Surya Khel Parisar in Lucknow Cantonment.
On Friday, the army chief visited 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre Museum where he was briefed on renovation and upgradation plans for the museum. Brigadier Pankaj Singh, commandant, 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre (11GRRC) briefed the army chief on regimental and welfare issues. Then the army chief visited the Shingo Battalion of the Gorkha Regiment located in the station.
He later visited headquarters, Central Command and was given operational briefing by lieutenant general Balwant Singh Negi, general officer commanding-inchief, Central Command.
The army chief also interacted with all officers of the station and emphasised the need to remain alert to the emerging security challenges. He exhorted all officers to work towards improving the organisation further.
Madhulika Rawat, president Army Wives Welfare Association visited Asha School and inaugurated Project Vishwas, a skilled training centre to rehabilitate special children, Veer Naris, wives and daughters of serving and retired soldiers. She also interacted with ladies of the garrison and encouraged them to focus on welfare measures for Veer Naris, widows and families living in field area family accommodation.
