A week after hate posters against people of Muslim community were found in Jianagla village, papers with similar message were found inside two mosques in Kargaina village in Subhashnagar here on Friday. The district police have recovered the papers and registered a case regarding the matter.

According to villagers, the message was printed on a white paper and asked Muslim residents to stop using loudspeakers for azaan, else namaz would not be allowed in mosques.

“The letter also read sarkar hamari aa gayi hai, sudhar jao (mend your ways, our government is in power) and was under signed gaon ke sabhi Hindu (Hindus of the village),” said Taqi Ahmed, caretaker of one of the mosques, who found the message at the gate of the masjid .

The Muslims residents informed the village head about it and police were called.

“Two papers were found inside the mosques of the village,” said superintendent of police (city) Sameer Saurabh. “A team of the local police which reached there on the report of the village head is investigating the matter,” he added.

Police have registered a case against unknown people under section 153A (Promoting enmity between two groups) of Indian Penal Code .

Kargaina is a thickly populated village on Bareilly-Badaun highway . It has a population of 9,000, of which around 3,000 are Muslims. The Muslim locality is situated on one side of the village.

“Prima facie it appears to be a cheap prank of miscreants, but we have alerted our sources in the village and those behind the incident will be arrested soon,” asserted the SP.

This is the second such incident in the district this month. The first incident was reported from Jianagla village of Sheeshgarh area.

Hate posters asking Muslim residents to vacate the village by end of this year were found pasted in the village last Monday .

Three police teams, including that of local intelligence unit and crime branch, are investigating the matter but have failed to arrest anyone yet.
