Welfare schemes will not be politicised: Min
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh’s new health roadmap will start taking shape from the next week to take care of gaps in services, check corruption and optimise resources, health minister Siddharth Nath Singh said here on Friday.
He said a report will be ready by next week.
“We intend to reach to the last man in the queue. We are here to serve,” the minister told reporters on his visit to Rani Laxmibai hospital.
The minister spent over an hour, inspected different wards, outpatient departments and clinics. He gave an-anti TB drug to a patient there. “Modiji has emphasised on making India TB free by 2025 and we should work in that direction,” he said.
He said it will be mandatory for private hospitals and clinics too to get TB patients treated by them registered with the government.
Asked whether the political names of services and schemes political (Samajwadi ambulance scheme, Samajwadi pension scheme etc) will be removed, he said: “We are not worried about names but politicisation of schemes will not be allowed. Those who do not serve people have politicised schemes and we shall not allow this. Hence such names will not be there,” he said.
The minister said administrative failure affected implementation. The minister said probe will be set up if corruption is found in various schemes such as the National Health Mission.
GOVT DOCS ENGAGED IN OTHER UNITS UNDER SCANNER
Government doctors, who have got themselves attached to departments or units (other than hospitals), will have to come back to the mainstream hospital functioning. A list of such doctors is being prepared by the health department.
Health minister Siddharth Nath Singh on Friday said that list of such doctors of the provincial medical services is being prepared. “We have come to know that many of them have got themselves attached to different departments just to stay in Lucknow. Such doctors will be brought back to work or they will have to resign,” the minister said.
MIN REFUSES BEACON, HOOTER FOR HIS FLEET
Health minister Siddharth Nath Singh has refused to use red beacon and hooters for vehicles in his fleet. The minister has also refused to use ambulance in his fleet for inter-district movement, saying they may be deployed for patient care. Singh has said ambulances are short and “we need them for patients hence they be deployed as per the need”, stated a press communique from the information department.
