Sharif celebrated Holi to please India: JuD
ISLAMABAD: JuD acting chief Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki has said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif celebrated Holi to please the Indian government.
“The rulers must realise that Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations. Their culture and civilisation are different. They cannot live together,” Makki, the brother-in-law of alleged Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed, told a conference in Lahore on Thursday.
Makki said the rulers are weakening Pakistan’s ideology by befriending India. “We will defend Pakistan’s ideology and will make nation strong to fight the enemy,” he said.
Sharif participated in a function in Karachi to celebrate Holi with the Hindu minority. In his message to minorities, Sharif warned against the forced conversions and destruction of places of worship of other religions, describing them as a “crime in Islam”.
Earlier, another cleric said Sharif had not only blasphemed against Islam but also demeaned the “ideological foundations” of Pakistan by participating in the function, and issued a fatwa against him.
PAKISTAN PASSES CLIMATE CHANGE ACT
Pakistan’s parliament has passed a climate change bill that officials promise “will fast-track measures needed to implement actions on the ground” in a country that has so far lagged on climate action.
The new law establishes a policy-making Climate Change Council, along with a Climate Change Authority to prepare and supervise the implementation of projects to help Pakistan adapt to climate impacts and hold the line on climate-changing emissions.
