Tanisha wins a golden double in AITA tourney

Young Tanisha Pranjal kept her date with both the titles of under-16 and under-14 at the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament here on Friday, notching up straight set wins, at the Vijayantkh­and Stadium.

Vaibhav Singh Bisht and Vansh Yadav emerged victorious in boys under-16 and under-14 sections, respective­ly. The duo of Umakant Singh and Daksh Singh won the boys under-16 doubles crown.

Top seed Tanisha outclassed second seed Tanushree Pandey with an identical margin of 6-2, 6-2 to win the under-16 title, before brushing aside third seed Gargi Das 6-4, 6-3 in under-14 final.

Top seed Vaibhav too scored 6-2, 6-1 win against third seed Vansh Yadav in the under-16 final, whereas Vansh Yadav outplayed Daksh Singh 6-2, 6-2 in under-14 final.

Boys under-16 (final): Vaibhav Singh Bisht bt Vansh Yadav 6-2, 6-1; Doubles (final): Umakant Singh-Daksh Singh bt Samit Kesari-Srikant Thakur 4-6, 6- 4, 11-9. Boys under-14 (final): Vansh Yadav bt Daksh Singh 6-2, 6-2. Girls under-16 (final): Tanisha Pranjal bt Tanushree Pandey 6-2, 6-2. Girls under-14 (final): Tanisha Pranjal bt Gargi Das 6-4, 6-3.

THRILLING WIN

Raj Garden Club notched up a thrilling one-run win to lift the glittering trophy of the 10th BA Naqvi Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday.

After scoring 121 for seven while batting first after winning the toss, RGC restricted the rivals for 120 for eight. Ashutosh Singh (42, 55b, 5x4), Rohit Yadav (31, 38b, 2x4) and Adnan (31*, 16b, 4x4, 1x6) were the main run getters. Arif remained the wrecker-in-chief for winners, bagging three for 29, whereas Amir had two for 15.

Earlier, Amit made 40 in 20 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes as RGC crossed 100-run mark. Anil Lal (26) and Sameer (23) also made useful contributi­ons. Inder Verma and Azhar took three and two wickets, respective­ly.

FINE KNOCKS

Apoorva Singh (83, 81b, 7x4, 2x6) and Arvind Gautam (65, 95b, 4x4, 1x6) scored sparkling half centuries as Drona Cricket Academy scored a convincing five-wicket win against Lucknow White in a league match of the Suryakali Shukla Memorial Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Friday.

CONVINCING WIN

Dhruva Cricket Academy (DCA) scored a convincing six-wicket win against National Cricket Club and collected full points in the Under-14 Yorker Cricket Trophy, at the Christian College Ground here on Friday.
